In order to preserve the aesthetic characteristics of the construction, the Eku Perfektion Alu system was chosen because it recalls the style of traditional iron frames.
At the beginning of 2017, the renovation of a castle began just outside the city centre of Martina Franca (Taranto – Italy). The intervention has the objective of preserving the specific aesthetic aspects of this construction, while renewing the entire structure externally and internally. The plastering of the facade has been completely redone, replacing all the damaged stone.
Inside, new flooring and new partition walls have been built to create three residential units. All the heating and electrical systems have been renewed by choosing solutions that guarantee adequate energy-saving such as underfloor heating and the widespread use of LED lamps and lighting.
The “ancient” charm of Eku Perfektion Alu
The care taken in preserving the elements and details that characterize the original structure could not but involve also the window and door frames. «The choice fell on the Eku Perfektion Alu series, corten steel colour» explains Giacinto Argese, owner of the window frame manufacturer «because on the one hand it guarantees all the advantages and performance of a modern frame, on the other it recalls the traditional lines of iron frames».
Fifty window and door frames have been installed to date, most of them (80%) with a one-leaf opening. Furthermore, 60% of the new windows and doors have an arched fanlight to respect the precedent aesthetics.
The frames are fitted with double-glazing, solar control safety glass. The average value of thermal transmittance Uw is around 2.0 W/m2K, while the average value of noise abatement Rw is 42 dB.
